First-time Setup
The first things to do once you have access, before you create a single competition.
If this is your first event, spend ten minutes on these four things before you create anything.
Make sure you can see your event
Sign in and open the Organizer page (top navigation). You should see a My Events list containing your night, with a Manage event → button. If it is not there, the account or the assignment is not set up yet; see Account access.
If a second person will help on the day, invite them as a tabulator from the Invite Tabulator card (see Your event).
Pick the scoring system early
The scoring system decides what the judges vote on and how the ranking is calculated. The options:
| System | Judges vote for... | Use it when... |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | A yes (top group) or a maybe (next group) for each participant. | You want the classic "top group, then next group" style. |
| Ranked maybes | A yes, or a maybe you rank as M1, M2, M3 (best to weakest). | You want the maybe layer to work as a second tier of ranking. |
| Weighted points | A yes or a ranked maybe; each ranked maybe earns a different point total. | You want a numeric score for each participant. |
If you are not sure, start with Regular. It is the most common choice and the easiest to explain to judges later. You can change it before the first score is submitted (see Configure preliminary scoring).
Get your participant list ready
With more than a couple of dancers, get their names into a list before event
day. The CSV import wants a header row with firstName and lastName, then
one row per dancer. See
CSV import for the exact
format and a sample.
Plan the judges' access
The scoresheet PDF is the main way judges get in: each one prints their own QR code under their name. So
- print the PDF in a large format, or
- share it to each judge's phone before the event, or
- keep a spare phone at the table in case a judge's battery dies. The token works on any device.
