Troubleshooting
Account and Access Problems
Sign-in failures, missing roles, forgotten passwords, and invitations that do not seem to work.
Sign-in here has two steps, so knowing both helps with failures:
- Password proves you are the account owner.
- A one-time login link, sent to the account's email, is the second, out-of-band proof. The link is single-use and expires after a short time.
That second step is your multi-factor: something you know (the password) plus something you have (the inbox).
Invalid email or password.
- The most common cause is a typo. Re-check both fields. The email is the account identifier, and the password is case-sensitive.
- If you are a newly invited user who has not finished sign-up yet, you do not have a password to try. Use the sign-up link from the invitation email; that is where you set your password.
- If your account's role changed, sign-in still works. Only what you can see after changes.
Check your email. but nothing arrives
- Wait up to a minute; check the spam and promotions folders.
- If it is really not there, start sign-in again; each attempt issues a fresh link. Old links are single-use and expire, so this is harmless.
- If emails to this address are not arriving at all (a broken mail server), contact your account administrator. See Getting help.
The login link says invalid or expired
- Each login link is single-use. If you opened it in two tabs, the second one fails. Start sign-in again.
- Links expire after a short time. Start sign-in again.
Signed in, but I cannot see my event (or the nav is missing)
- Check Organizer → My Events; your event should be listed there.
- If it is not, the assignment is missing. Your account administrator can assign you to the event (see Getting help).
- If you are on a guest machine, sign in fresh in that browser.
Invitations
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Invitee got the email but the link does not work | The link expired or was revoked. Send a fresh invitation. |
| Invitee already has an account | The invitation assigns the event/role to the existing account. No new password needed. |
| I invited the wrong email | Have the invitation withdrawn and a new one sent to the right address. Your account administrator can do both. |
Password resets
- Forgot password? Enter the account email and a reset link is sent to it. Open the link, set a new password, and sign in with it.
- Reset links are single-use and time-limited, like login links.
- The new password applies immediately; older sign-in sessions keep working until they are used.
Getting a new role
- Roles are set for the account by your account administrator. On your event, you can invite a new person as a tabulator yourself (see Your event). Any other role change, or access to a different event, goes through your account administrator.
- A role change takes effect the next time the person loads a page. Signing out and back in makes it immediate.
