What an organizer can do
The full set of things an event organizer does in Syncopoint, and the few steps the account administrator handles.
This page is written for the person who runs the event: you create the competitions, register the dancers, set up the judges, run the scoring on the day, and publish the results. Everything below is what you can do.
What you can do
- Manage your event's competitions. Create a competition, set its name, division, judging mode (individual or couple), and stage (prelim or final); edit it, or retire it later.
- Register participants. Add dancers one at a time, import a list from CSV, or use the AI import preview on a messy file. Assign them to competitions, and link couples to their partners.
- Set up the judges. Add the judges for a competition. Syncopoint gives each a personal token and a QR code in the scoresheet PDF that opens their scoring page.
- Run scoring and watch progress. See which judges have submitted, which are still working, and pick up the results as they arrive.
- Publish and unpublish results. Make prelim or final results visible on the public page, or take them back down for a correction.
- Export. Participant lists (CSV, XLSX, PDF), scoresheets (named or anonymized), and the result tables.
A couple of steps are done for you
Syncopoint runs events at venues where one account administrator sits behind the day. A small number of platform-level actions fall on that person, and those are the only steps you will ever see as out of your reach:
- Creating and deleting the event itself. You get an event that is already set up for you.
- Saving the scoring configuration and re-running the ranking (Calculate). Both are committed by the account administrator so the scoring record stays auditable.
When one of those steps is unavailable to you, the app tells you that the specific action needs a higher permission. That message is expected, not a sign something is broken in your setup. You can still run the competition, add judges, and publish. See Getting help for how to route it.
Judges do not sign in
Judges have no account. Each judge gets a unique judge token, an
8-character code such as Q5XTYHH3 (shown grouped as Q5XT YHH3), printed
under their name in the scoresheet PDF alongside a QR code.
- The judge scans the QR or types the token and lands on their personal scoring page for that competition.
- The token is single-use for submission: once a judge publishes their scores, the same code will not accept a second submission for that competition.
Inviting a tabulator to your event
If someone helps you with logistics on the day, you can invite them as a tabulator for your event from the Invite Tabulator card on your organizer dashboard. They receive an email with a one-time sign-up link and can work the event you invited them to, but cannot publish on your behalf.
What you cannot do (and why)
To keep scores fair and the record trustworthy, no organizer account can:
- change a judge's scores after they have been submitted. The normal path is for the judge to re-enter their votes with a fresh token (see Data corrections).
- edit the event's audit record after the fact; it is append-only.
