Run Preliminaries

The event-day flow for a preliminary competition: judges score, you monitor, the ranking is computed, and you publish.

The prelim is the big first round. This page is your event-day playbook for one preliminary competition.

Before the first dancer walks in (10 minutes)

Open the competition: Manage →.
Confirm Number of Participants, Number of Judges, Number of Yeses, Number of (Ranked) Maybes are as intended.
Confirm the Scoring System is the one you meant (Regular, Ranked maybes, Weighted points, or Manual priority).
Confirm the Head Judge is set (if any).
Open one judge's scoring page on a test device and confirm the participant list renders and the yes/maybe caps read right.
If a judge is running late, have a spare phone ready; the token works on any device.

Watch the Judge Submission Progress card on the competition page. It shows each judge's status: Not Started, Draft, or Submitted.
The organizer view is read-only while the competition in progress: you can see the progress and judge names, but you cannot edit votes. See Monitor judging.
If a judge reports a problem (token rejected, form not loading), go to Judge errors and recovery or During-event troubleshooting.

Run the ranking with the current votes. The Calculate control in the competition editor does that (see Configure preliminary scoring). It is reserved for the account administrator; if your Calculate click does not commit, ask them to run it. Once it has, the ranking appears in Prelim Results.
Review the ranking quickly: top finalists, alternates, and any participants you expect near the cut line.
Publish the results when you are ready to do so. You do this yourself.
After publishing, the public page shows the ranking. See View results.

Publishing before all judges have submitted. If a judge has not submitted yet, their absence is reflected in the ranking (the scoring system treats a missing vote for that judge as a no-placement). Publish only when everyone has, or knowingly accept the partial result.
Not recalculating after a fix. If a judge had to re-submit (a fresh token, for instance), re-run the ranking before you publish.
Confusing prelims with finals. Prelims use yes/maybe (or ranked-maybe/points) voting; finals use explicit placements. Different editors, different controls.
