Link Two Prelims for a Combined Scoresheet
Print two preliminary competitions on one scoresheet page so the same judges can score both in one sitting.
If two preliminary competitions share the same judging room and the same judges, for example Mixed Prelims and an individual prelim judged at the same time, you can link them. The scoresheet PDF then prints both competitions side by side on each heat page, and the same set of judges gets a single QR code that covers both.
Linking is not a way to connect a prelim to a final. A final has its own scoresheet and its own scoring page. See Run finals for that flow.
Common confusion
The Linked Prelim control in Prelim Configuration lists only the other prelims in the same event. Picking a final will not work; the app rejects the save with Linked competition must also be a PRELIM competition. Use this control only to pair two prelims.
Setting the link
- Open the first prelim's editor: Manage → → Prelim Configuration.
- In the Linked Prelim dropdown, pick the other prelim to print alongside it. The dropdown lists only other prelims in the same event.
- If the same judges will score both in the same sitting, check Judges judge both prelims at the same time.
- Click Save. You will see a note: The combined PDF will print current and linked prelims side by side.
What the combined PDF looks like
When both prelims have participants and judges, Download Scoresheets PDF generates a single PDF in which each heat page shows both competitions side by side, sharing one heat size (the larger of the two). Both competitions' judges appear on the page.
If the linked prelim has no participants and judges yet, the button reports: Linked prelim must have participants and judges saved before the combined PDF can be generated.
What the link does not do
- It does not copy results, finalists, or alternates between the two prelims.
- It does not make a final's participant list come from the prelim.
- It does not change the scoring system of either competition.
- It does not let you pick a final here; finals are out of scope for this control.
When to use it
- The same judges score two different prelims in the same room and you want one combined page instead of two.
- Two heats are conceptually one judging session (for example, a mixed division and a solo division judged back to back).
