Getting Help
What to include in a support request, and where to look before you send one.
If you are stuck, here is how to get un-stuck fastest.
First: the self-serve paths
In this order:
- Common problems: the symptom to fix table.
- The article for the specific feature you are using (for example, Judge score entry).
- Refresh the page and try once more. Most "it is broken" moments are a one-off network hiccup.
- Sign out and back in. That clears a stale session.
Before you send a request, gather these
The more of these you include, the faster the fix:
- What you were trying to do (one sentence).
- The exact screen (a screenshot is ideal) and the exact error message (copied, not paraphrased).
- Which event and competition (name and year).
- Which role you are using (organizer, tabulator, or a judge with a token).
- When it started (a timestamp helps the person who responds find it in the event's record).
- What you already tried (from the pages above).
What the person who responds can and cannot do
- They can look at the event's record and the competition configurations, and (for judge problems) the token status. They can also do the reserved steps, such as issuing a fresh token or re-running the ranking.
- They cannot see a judge's individual votes until those votes have been submitted, and they do not hold the plain judge tokens (only previews).
- They cannot silently undo a submitted judge's vote. The supported path is always a fresh token and a re-submission (see Data corrections).
For a judge-side problem, include
- The exact step the judge was on (token entry / scoring / review / publish).
- The exact message (a screenshot helps).
- The device and browser (phone or laptop; which browser).
- Whether re-entering the token on a different device works (it should, if the token is valid).
For a results problem, include
- Which competition and which section (prelim results / final results / scoresheet).
- What you expected and what you see.
- Whether a Calculate has been run since the last data change.
If the event is live and blocked
- Have a second device ready for the affected judge(s); the token works on any device.
- If the token is the problem, request a fresh one for the judge (your account administrator can issue it) and re-send the new scoresheet PDF.
- Note the time of each step so the person who responds can follow the exact sequence.
